Milton of Crathes Visitor Centre & Coffee Shop

Visitor Centre Exterior

The visitor centre is housed in two railway coaches

Opened in early 2002, the Royal Deeside Railway Preservation Society Visitor centre is located at the Milton Arts and Crafts Village, 15 miles from Aberdeen on the A93 Aberdeen to Banchory Road and located next to the historic Crathes Castle. The visitor centre, which is open at weekends only, is located in two railway carriages with pleasant views out across the Dee valley.

The visitor centre consists of an exhibition showing the railway in historical times as well as detailing the plans and progress made by the society. A selection of goods are available to purchase and visitors can enjoy refreshments and snacks in comfortable seating, enjoying excellent views out over the Dee valley.

Opening Hours for 2008

Public brake van rides and shop openings will restart on Sundays from April 27th, 13:00 to 17:00.

Please Note : Due to construction work from January-April there is no public access to the station platform.
Car Parking beside the railway is presently restricted until the building work is completed. In the interests of HS&E please keep to the "Deeside Way" footpath alongside the railway until the operating season restarts in April.

Volunteers Wanted!

As in previous years the railway is now preparing for the 2008 opening season and volunteers are being sought to assist in the running of the shop/visitor centre and with the operation of public train services. With the completion of the station platform and the progress being made with tracklaying 2008 is already shaping up to be a great year of progress for the railway, but as ever this is dependent on the generosity of members & volunteers who are able to provide their time to assist in the running of the railway.

If you can spare an afternoon or two to assist, why not check the volunteer rota to see where we could use your help!
