The Royal Deeside Railway is located at the Milton Arts and Crafts Centre, just off the A93 Aberdeen-Banchory road a short distance to the west of Crathes. From Aberdeen simply follow signs for Banchory along the North Deeside Road (A93). Alternatively use the South Deeside Road (B9077) as far as Crathes, then head North to Crathes (crossing the River Dee in the process) and turn left onto the A93 for the short distance to the Milton Arts & Crafts Centre.
Visitors approaching along the A90 Aberdeen-Dundee road can either continue along the A90 into Aberdeen (and follow the instructions above) or take the A957 road to Crathes directly. Visitors approaching from the North or West are advised to follow directions to Banchory along the A93 or A980, and then head East along the A93.
The Royal Deeside Railway and Milton Arts & Crafts Centre are easily seen from the A93 approaching from both East and West directions, with the entrance to Crathes Castle opposite the entrance to the Milton Arts & Crafts Centre. Ample parking for both cars and coaches is available - free of charge - at the Milton Arts & Crafts Centre.
Long-distance walkers and cyclists can also reach the Royal Deeside Railway and Milton Arts & Crafts Centre by travelling along the Deeside Way/Auld Deeside Line Way, a long distance multi-user route which follows the route of the railway from Aberdeen to Banchory. Information on the Culter-Banchory section of this route can be found at the Crathes, Durris & Drumoak Community Council Website.
